Half of me is empty, but we were born as one

Only time will tell
Wait for it to heal

My own heart has failed me
You looked the other way
A heated reaction
With thoughts of yesterday

Only time will tell
Wait for it to heal

You have some reservations
I've seen that look before
Now half of me is empty
But we were born as one

Only time will tell
Wait for it to heal

Silvia Federici: Caliban and the Witch

[T]he political lesson that we can learn from Caliban and the Witch is that capitalism, as a social-economic system, is necessarily committed to racism and sexism. For capitalism must justify and mystify the contradictions built into its social relations - the promise of freedom vs. the reality of widespread coercion, and the promise of prosperity vs. the reality of widespread penury - by denigrating the "nature" of those it exploits: women, colonial subjects, the descendants of African slaves, the immigrants displaced by globalization.

At the core of capitalism there is not only the symbiotic relation between waged-contractual labor and enslavement but, together with it, the dialectics of accumulation and destruction of labor-power, for which women have paid the highest cost, with their bodies, their work, their lives.

It is impossible therefore to associate capitalism with any form of liberation or attribute the longevity of the system to its capacity to satisfy human needs. If capitalism has been able to reproduce itself it is only because of the web of inequalities that it has built into the body of the world proletariat, and because of its capacity to globalize exploitation. This process is still unfolding under our eyes, as it has for the last 500 years.

The difference is that today the resistance to it has also achieved a global dimension.

To weigh one's heart against the oncoming dark

How long
Is the pattern going to speak for you
How far can your voice reach
Your song below the night
From my view
I can see you
Shudder where you are standing
In the vision
Cyan blue

Now
October
This time you won't be needing me

To run along the freeway
To weigh one's heart against the oncoming dark
You left me with the pills
We had plans but you couldn't make it
Through the trees
What took you so long
The high grass
What took you so long

Translate the fire
The venom's rush inside your heart
How long can winter
Colour your every word
And the skyline
Past the houses and the cities
Hyperopia
Carmine red

Now
This river
This time I will

 To run along the freeway
To weigh one's heart against the oncoming dark
You left me with the pills
We had plans but you couldn't make it
Through the trees
What took you so long
The high grass
What took you so long

Jean Rhys: when the colours were different

It was as if a curtain had fallen, hiding everything I had ever known. It was almost like being born again. The colours were different, the smells different, the feeling things gave you right down inside yourself was different. Not just the difference between heat, cold; light, darkness; purple, gray. But a difference in the way I was frightened and the way I was happy. I didn’t like England at first. I couldn’t get used to the cold. Sometimes I would shut my eyes and pretend that the heat of the fire, or the bed-clothes drawn up round me, was sun-heat; or I would pretend I was standing outside the house at home, looking down Market Street to the Bay.

I've never seen a light that's so bright

Why I should feel this way?
Why I should feel this way?
Why I should feel the same?

                                                     Is something I cannot say
                                                     Is something I cannot say
                                                     Is something I can't explain

                                                     I feel you
Outside at the edge of my life
                                                     I see you

Walk by at the edge of my sight

Why I should follow my heart
?
Why I should follow my heart?
                                                     Why I should fall apart?

Why I should follow my dreams?
Why I should follow my dreams?
Why I should be at peace?

                                                      I feel you

Outside at the edge of my life
                                                      I see you

Walk by at the edge of my sight

I had to let you go
                                                      To the setting sun

I had to let you go
And find a way back home

I had to let you go
                                                      To the setting sun

I had to let you go
And find a way back home

In my dreams all is see is you
In my dreams all is see is

I've never seen a light that's so bright
I've never seen a light that's so bright
I've never seen a light that's so bright

Blinded by the light that's inside

Blinded by the light that's inside

Blinded by the light that's inside you

I had to let you go
                                                      To the setting sun

I had to let you go
And find a way back home
